Club History

The Butler Outdoor Club was founded in 1994 by Bob Tait. Our club has grown to over 160 members who participate in our year-round outdoor activities in Western Penna. and surrounding areas. These activities are geared for all levels and are designed to provide recreation and foster a better understanding and responsible use of the outdoors.

Each year we organize a New Year's Day picnic at Moraine State Park, cross-country ski weekends at Wilderness Lodge and at Allegany State Park in New York state, a Ground Hog Day Picnic in February, a cherry Pie Hike near Washington's Birthday, an Outdoor Extravaganza over Memorial Day Weekend, a fall camping weekend and our annual dinner in November and numerous day and weekend trips.

Our activities include hiking, backpacking, biking, birding, canoeing, kayaking, xc-skiing, snow-shoeing, camping, trail maintenance and adopted highway and park cleanups.
